I have been fortunate to contribute to the design and production of multiple Dune titles, including the modern movie-inspired edition, the enduring Dune Classic, and Dune: Arrakis. Each project offered a unique opportunity to explore different facets of the iconic universe and bring its themes and aesthetics to life through thoughtful design.

In DUNE, you command one of four powerful factions—House Atreides, House Harkonnen, the Fremen, or the Imperium—each striving to control the most valuable substance in the universe: melange, the enigmatic spice found only on the perilous sands of Arrakis. Deploy your forces to Dune, harvest spice, secure strategic strongholds, and outmanoeuvre your rivals in the fight for dominance.

DUNE: A Game of Conquest and Diplomacy is a refined, modern interpretation of the classic 1979 board game, drawing on the striking imagery and thematic depth of Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 film. As a longstanding board-game enthusiast, it was a privilege to collaborate with the writers to help shape the gameplay and to work closely with the team at Legendary Entertainment to bring the project to life.

In Dune: Arrakis, I helped bring the harsh beauty and tension of the desert planet to life through graphic design. The project required balancing the stark, iconic aesthetic of the Dune universe with clear, functional presentation for players. From map elements shaped by sweeping dunes and shifting territories to UI components that communicate spice flow, conflict, and faction identity at a glance, every element was crafted to feel both atmospheric and intuitive. The visual language reinforces the game’s core themes—scarcity, ambition, and looming danger—while ensuring that players can navigate complex choices with ease.

For the classic 1979 edition of Dune, a game originally inspired by a passionate fan-made design, my role centered on bringing the updated version smoothly into production. I handled the full layout process, preparing components to maintain the game’s distinctive retro aesthetic while ensuring clarity and usability.

My work included meticulous prepress preparation, colour management, and production coordination to keep every element—from rulebook pages to punchboard components—faithful to the legacy of the original release. The goal was to honour the game’s iconic history while delivering a polished, print-ready package for modern players.
